.orgCommunity’s Solutions Day Honors Innovator in the Association Industry
Schaumburg, IL. September 19, 2019. Association professionals from across the country gathered at the American Society of Anesthesiologists in Schaumburg, Illinois for the 4th annual .orgCommunity Solutions Day. The program featured association executives and industry leaders sharing how innovation, culture, technology, and data have helped them redesign their operations and position their organizations for success in this era of disruption.
The Innovation Award celebrates outstanding innovation and the success of those taking their association or organization to the next level. The purpose is to recognize innovative ideas and inspiring leaders who are shaping the future of associations and transforming the landscape of the industry.
This year’s winner is the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). Like many other associations, HFMA was experiencing challenges with membership retention and recruitment. The idea was to transform the organization, with simplicity at the core, with a goal of delivering on a new set of core customer values. This meant providing an easy purchase experience, all-in-one access for all content and an enjoyable, personalized experience.
“HFMA is honored to receive this award,” said HFMA President and CEO Joseph J. Fifer, FHFMA, CPA. “We knew that associations must change to stay relevant in an increasingly complex and information-saturated environment. So we worked to create a membership experience that delivers more value to our members all the way around. That added value gets passed through to healthcare organizations and to our nation’s healthcare system. We call that a win-win-win.”
HFMA has changed their entire business model including their internal structure and technology platform. For internal structure, 12 traditional association departments were transformed to a purpose-driven structure with four primary departments and activities.
After launching in June 2019, HFMA has experienced increases in retention and average monthly new member recruitment, a solid increase of their Net Promoter Score, and more business partner revenue. They expect these trends to continue.
