John brings 35+ years of progressive, global experience in business, IT, management consulting, business process optimization and applying IT to critical business challenges. His achievements include turning around failing IT departments, remediation of critical outsourcing agreements, ensuring IT alignment with business strategy, strategic supplier management, complex negotiations and helping organizations select appropriate technology solutions to improve their business.
John has served as an adjunct faculty member at DePaul University since 1999, where he teaches graduate level courses in IT and e-business strategy, social media, negotiation, leadership and project management. John was previously the Chief Information Officer of SmithBucklin Corporation, directing the company’s IT resources and technology investments, and working with more than 120 nonprofits to develop their digital strategy and implement Association Management Systems. John also held senior IT management positions at CNA Insurance Companies and Continental Bank.
John is a recognized and involved member of the technology industry. He was named one of the “Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2006” by Computerworld Magazine, and received the 2002 “CIO of the Year” award by the Windy City Chapter of The Association of IT Professionals (AITP). John currently serves on Board of Directors of the Chicago Chapters of the Society for Information Management (SIM) and AITP. He frequently speakers at industry events on topics such as negotiations, leadership and running IT as a business.
