Dawn Glossa is the director of corporate communications at The Joint Commission. In this role, she leads the organization’s media and public relations, publications, multi-media, and brand development. With an extensive background in health care communications and hospital-based public relations, Ms. Glossa joined The Joint Commission in late 2012.
Prior to joining The Joint Commission, Ms. Glossa was the director of marketing and communications for the American Society of Anesthesiologists where she created a public relations and marketing function from the ground up. A healthcare communications veteran, Ms. Glossa spent a decade at Sinai Health System on Chicago’s west side where she was responsible for all external relations including lobbying, public relations, marketing, strategic planning, and fundraising.
Ms. Glossa led an extensive national rebranding campaign to better educate the public on the specialty of anesthesiology. The resulting campaign, “Lifeline to Modern Medicine,” has received numerous awards from PR News and MarCom. In 2011, she received the Inspiring Leader Award from the Association Forum for her achievements in establishing a culture leading to employee satisfaction, motivation, engagement, and achievement.
Ms. Glossa received her bachelor of arts in communications from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and received her master’s in public administration from DePaul University in Chicago where her thesis focused on marketing trends in the Chicago hospital market. She holds a certificate in marketing and fundraising from Northwestern University. Glossa is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Change Agent.

Sandstorm is a highly collaborative, analytical, and nimble firm focused on user experience design (UX), usability, marketing strategy, analytics and web development. With 3000+ in-depth user research interviews and usability studies under its belt, Sandstorm has mastered the art of uncovering insights to reveal each client's untapped intrinsic value.
Prior to her work at Sandstorm, Amanda served as the Director of Business Development at Protiviti, a global consulting firm, focused on Microsoft SharePoint, Office 365 and custom solutions to improve internal business process, collaboration and consumer facing web experiences.
Amanda has worked with hundreds of associations over her career on the front lines, helping organizations to better utilize technology solutions to meet their organizational, business process and digital needs.
